Phoronix: Valve's Alien Swarm Game For Linux?
While the best cards have not yet been dealt, for those hoping to see Valve's "Alien Swarm" game supported on Linux upon the Steam / Source Engine Linux release, you may be in luck. Windowing code within the Alien Swarm SDK is signalling that there may be support for this game coming to Linux...
Michael Larabel, stop playing with my heart. Seriously, it hurts.
there are only vague hints pointing towards steam/source for Linux more than half a year now?
Steam for Linux is either dead now and what we are seeing are pieces of it's body or it will eventually make it out and Steam/Source/Valve will be antiquated or bankrupt - such is life for the Linux Gamer :-(.
Yea, that's not going to happen anytime soon.Steam/Source/Valve will be antiquated or bankrupt
Really, could someone from Phoronix give a statement why are you so sure that Steam is indeed coming to Linux? Cause you are like the only one in the whole internet that claims it with 100% certainty. Do you know something secret that the rest of the world is not aware of?
Because those 'proofs' of you showing some linux ifdefs here and there (in Mac client f.e.) are not proving anything. It just meant that someone was playing with it. It might have been just some single developer that got too much of his free time.
Making such statements all the time without ANY sort of proof is really bad journalism.
Please stop taking small pieces of code from random places and claiming an imminent port just because the word linux is there, It could be some framework/library that might work on linux that steam is using.
Only mention steam again if you have words from developers, or something filtered, but stop messing with the code.
