ATI Mobility X1700 with FC7
Hi all,
I have been trying and trying to get my x1700 working; i do regret purchasing a laptop with an ATI now I have tried installing ati-driver-installer-8.37.6-x86.x86_64.run. I all ask for is 1280x800 resolution instead of 1024x768. I'm running Fedora 7 Linux version 2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 on an Asus F3JP. I have tried disabling AIGLX in my xorg.conf. Below i've pasted my output for installation process, /var/log/Xorg.0.log & dmesg in that order. It would be awesome if someone could help me; i would greatly appriciate it.
After running ./ati-driver-installer-8.37.6-x86.x86_64.run i used the default options. Once installation was complete i did the following:-
[root@localhost ati]# aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Uninitialised file found, configuring.
Using /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Saved back-up to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.original-0

Also found this weird; i recieved different outputs: -
[root@localhost ~]# fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Generics
OpenGL version string: 2.0.6065 (8.29.6)
[root@localhost Linux]# fglrxinfo
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.4 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.2)
Well hopefully i've provided enough information.
Thanks,
Dom
Thanks Michael... Guess i'll have to wait until ati release 8.38 drivers; until then i'm just gonna have to live with 1024x768 resolution.
