solaris 10 loading problem

Hi all,

when i start loading solaris 10 x86, it gives a warning message continuously.
Warning: init exited on fatal signal 9; restarting

I never get a bash to check things, so what to do????
it was working properly before this, not during installation.

I'm not sure which version of Solaris 10 you're using, but if it is not ancient it should be booting via grub.

If you're booting via GRUB if you modify the kernel option to add -v you might get a better idea of what point it is failing.

have you tried booting to fail-safe mode?

I am using SunOS 5.10.
i dnt know, how to boot via GRUB?
basically it fails to load in init as describe in the error message.

and i have tried with fail-safe mode by typing boot -s or b -s, but it didn't load in fail-safe mode.

Ahh!, you're on Sparc ... try "boot -v"

if so press "e" to edit before it goes to the next screen

go to the kernel line in a similar way to that article and add "-v" to the end of the line (and return) before "b" to boot.

Ahh ... a very old version of Solaris 10 ...

sorry, you're taking me back a bit.

according to: http://sysunconfig.net/unixtips/solaris.html you should be able to "boot -m verbose" ...

or you might be able to (according to http://198.62.75.4/opt/sun_docs/C/so...LLNET/p57.html ) "boot - -v"

before you run these make sure you know what the original "boot" line is in case it forgets it when you type these commands in ...

I take it you've gained this old system and have to support it, no upgrades possible?
