    X3 Reunion needs S3TC, though loading times with this library are currently very long. Other games: FreeSpace 2 Open, id tech games, old Braid build, and Spring.

    Very many, as s3tc is quite popular.
    what will be the effects/symptoms if missing this library?
    Most games will fail to start (id games), crash when S3TC textures are needed (fs2_open), or run with missing textures (X3).

    Urban Terror->Settings->[ ]Enable texture compression
    Gives a few fps more.

    left 4 dead 2 wouldn't even launch without it...
