Which new driver? As far as I am aware, no driver from ATI supports my HD2900XT card under Linux, whether in dri or aiglx. Do you have a link?

Also, if it would support OpenGL 3.0, at least in part, they would sound like very good drivers.

There will be a new driver out later this year that supports the Radeon HD 2000 series. This driver is on a new codebase for the fglrx driver. I cannot comment on it anymore than that, just stay tuned to Phoronix.

I wish the new driver will not drop support for my AGP Radeon 9600 256MB (RV350).

OK, thanks! Hope you don't mind me cautiously saying "Seeing is believing".

    Still, excellent site!

I believe full well in that statement

About Nvidia hardware supporting OpenGL 3.0:
    All talk, no links!

Mount Evans will require DirectX 10 supporting hardware, with Longs Peak targeting the SM3.0-supporting class of DX9 parts out there. There's a utility library to come that's a bit like GLU, and the entire OpenGL 3 process should calm down very soon so the ARB can finalise everything and look to shipping Mount Evans.

I hope you come up with better sources than mine.

Considering that 3.0 is Longs Peak and Not Mt. Evans, pretty much every card out there capable of DirectX 9, Shader Model 3.0, will have the ability of supporting a OpenGL 3.0 API driver- your link says as much. This translates into 3.0 support for the following NVidia parts:

    NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX
    NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE
    NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
    NVIDIA GeForce 6600
    NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX

I can point to comparable ATI parts, but since they're going to wait until they get the new codebase drivers better gelled to release a Longs Peak capable driver, I won't comment on those- yet.
