I think you have not tried gnome-shell + catalyst. Please try yourself first and then comment.

I'm not sure, but I think I read a while ago that there are also troubles with Gnome shell if proprietary NVIDIA drivers are used.$ fglrxinfo

Too bad about catalyst not supporting gnome3 properly.
Anyone have experience on how well PowerXpress works for 11.4 on a PowerXpress-capable notebook? Since Nvidia still isn't doing Optimus on Linux, I may need to consider AMD for next notebook purchase.
Well, maybe attach a screenshot. Also why "radeonhd" driver? Basically radeonhd is dead, only radeon is used now...
