I sense some confusion here. Whether you are using new GNOME or old GNOME doesn't matter. GTK development and features are independent from that. Even if you are using KDE or another desktop environment and running GTK applications, this enhancement will still benefit you. In any case, GTK applications themselves often will remember the last opened directory. This change will push this down to the widget itself and avoid code duplication.

Huh? It didn't do that? I thought Gnome was so full of usability?
