Phoronix: AMD R600 Gallium3D Driver Patch For AF
Submitted to the mailing list over the weekend was a patch by Carl-Philip Haensch that implements support for Anisotropic Filtering (AF) in the ATI/AMD R600 Gallium3D driver...

And how can one turn it ON without any control panel ?
And what if I want to force AF for compiz cube, like I'm doing right now with fglrx ? Or what if the game does not have an option for anisotropic filtering ?
Not having a proper control panel is just a bad idea (imho).
Yet, somehow I didn't find it odd when R300/R600 split happened.
Because it was just about implementing stuff that wasn't available for R300's.
I thought that the control panel was "driconf"?
I don't know if this particular option is in there, but that's what Mesa drivers use.
Hmm, looks like the patch is only for the older chips, i.e., pre-Evergreen. But nice to have anyway.
Now it also works for Evergreen. Jerome Glisse just committed it to Git:
