    Default Fedora7 + 8800GTS - Portrait displays

    Hi,

I'm new to nvidia (having stopped using ati cards because of the poor state of the Linux drivers) - so sorry if this is a FAQ.

I have a Fedora7 install with a 8800GTS graphics card and 2 Iiyama 1600X1200 displays which are capable of being rotated to portrait (1200x1600)

Q1. I have problems using these displays in landscape mode with "desktop effects" enabled. Normally I get hanging gnome sessions or windows without title bars and other decorations. I don't have these problems if I plug in a lower resolution display (1280x1024).
    Is this a known problem?

Q2. I have the same problem in portrait mode. I also see that randr doesn;t seem to work so I added option "Rotate" "CCW" to xorg.conf - but now I get a tearing effect when scrolling through large html pages in firefox (slashdot and http://www.michaellarabel.com are prime examples.
Is this a problem with the nvidia driver or my config?

    TIA

    Daveh

There is a problem and known bug when using AIGLX with xinerama or nView for multiple displays with nVidia hardware and the 100.14.11 drivers. You may want to search around the nVnews.net forums for possible solutions or workarounds to this issue.
