For the past five months when mentioning Intel graphics at Phoronix, it's been pretty much about their latest-generation Sandy Bridge hardware and most recently about their next-generation Ivy Bridge. The talk has either been about new hardware enablement, performance improvements, or bad regressions. In this article, we are going a generation back to look at how the Clarkdale/Arrandale-Ironlake graphics performance has evolved under Linux over the course of Ubuntu releases.

Fedora mesa is git from a few weeks ago, F15 updates testing has git from 5 minutes ago. F15 users should see all of these benefits now.

Usually ironlake cpus can compile the whole stack within 20-25 min - the most time is needed to dl from the extra slow freedesktop server.

I hadn't dug too deeply to see what 7.11-devel snapshot was shipping by default in F15, but it didn't have the Git SHA1 hash as part of the OpenGL version string so it's a few weeks old at least and figured it might have been too outdated. Usually I just look at the stock package set shipping with the distribution. However, the article has been updated to reflect the information. Thanks for the comments.
