Phoronix: Is AMD Open-Sourcing Something Next Week?

Some Linux users seem to think that next week, Advanced Micro Devices will be open-sourcing -- something -- relating to their graphics stack. Firmware? ATI Avivo? OpenCL / Stream work? UVD unit specifications?..

Somebody might have said something is going to happen somewhere at some point in time. Great story.

Well there is something coming (though not necessarily from AMD). And it's a slow news weekend with most people on holidays in the US and UK.

Q has been quite correct with the catalyst drivers in the past, and with regards to AMD he's usually fairly accurate. Of course he's not always correct; at least the information that he receives isn't always what pans out, but often enough it does.
