Smooth 2d on HD 2x00??

Hi, I have a toshiba A200-1M8 laptop, with the ATI HD2600 mobility...
I use Ubuntu gutsy, and I've installed the fglrx 8.41.7 driver...
opengl seems to work fine (well i just ran warcraft3 and checked the fps) but 2d is problematic... when moving a window, it leaves trails on the background ones...
resizing has a similar effect too...
I haven't found any solution for this...so I assume it's an 8.41.7 bug...
Is there any other driver that works for the 2k series? at least the 2d part...I can live with rebooting to windows to play a game, but those trails everywhere are just annoying...
Unfortunately these days I haven't got the time to experiment with the drivers

well known issue(one of many) with all recent versions...at least for me on mobility x1600

Yeah... precisely... (didn't make out that thing in the right corner though)

Guess I'll give radeonhd a try when I have the time...
Got to fix suspend/hibernate too... some sound stuff...hotkeys... damn those companies for not supporting linux...
