Default VMware Releases The XA Gallium3D State Tracker

Phoronix: VMware Releases The XA Gallium3D State Tracker

Hurra! A new Gallium3D state tracker was just released! But it's not the state tracker for OpenCL support, VDPAU or VA-API encoding/decoding, or anything else like that, but rather it's for something new: the XA State Tracker. This state tracker provides a new means of X.Org Acceleration (hence the "XA" name) and was developed by VMware...

It would be rather nice if we could get most of the X server display done on the GPU side. Then the Xserver transfer latency would be masked by the GPU upload latency, and everyone would be happy.

Edit: Also, has anyone talked about scan-converting traps/tris on the GPU for Xrender? It seems like this would be a significant win.
