    Default Mandriva 2008

It was released last week and is really shaped up into a nice distro.
Monday they released a One Gnome version as well. You can find out more about Mandriva 2008 here

They also changed the club it's free just have to register.. Now you only pay for the powerpack through the store.

Mandriva is a great distribution. The only problem is, that there are many of them.

My first distro was Mandrake (now Mandriva), I just looked at some screenshots of Mandriva 2008 and damn.. That thing looks alot like Windows. I know.. I know.. It makes it easier for new users to adapt to Linux. The thing that gets me is that, MacOSX doesn't have a start menu to help them adapt and no one complains.

Beware of "looks like Windows, makes it easier" sentences. OpenSUSE 10.3 looks easy and well polished but I, in my opinion, think that it's some of the worst and hardest to use distributions for me. I know what Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, Slackware do when I tell them something. I don't know what's happening and how to do things with OpenSuSE 10.3. You have a hard time finding kcontrol with the KDE edition of OpenSuSE 10.3 (btw. the installers sucks big time). You only have the poor YaST2 that only can handle hardware settings.
