Hey. First of all I must say that the 8.42.3 is working great, increased performance overall over here on my x1950 Pro.
I'm currently running Ubuntu Gutsy x86 and after upgrading compiz to 0.6.0 I get these extreme screen distortions and it didn't help to revert to 0.5.2 which should be stable (in the ubuntu repos).
Here's a screenshot of what I'm currently experiencing:

My xorg.conf:
There's no errors displaying in Xorg.0.log (it wouldn't fit in here so I can reply with it if you need to have a look at it)Code:# xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" Screen "Screen" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard" InputDevice "Mouse" EndSection Section "Files" EndSection Section "Module" EndSection Section "ServerFlags" Option "AIGLX" "true" EndSection Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "true" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "se" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse" Driver "evdev" Option "CorePointer" Option "Name" "Logitech USB Receiver" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "CMC 19AW" HorizSync 30.0 - 82.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 76.0 EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Graphics" Driver "fglrx" Option "VideoOverlay" "on" Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off" BusID "PCI:4:0:0" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen" Device "Graphics" Monitor "CMC 19AW" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Modes "1440x900" "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubSection EndSection

Thanks for the quick response, however, it didn't work. :/
I might add that the plugins (wobbly windows for example) all work, cube also.
Could be be resolution dependant?
I've never managed to get 1440x900 working on my X1950 Pro without some kind of graphical corruption...
Never had any problems with 1440x900. I did try it just now (decreased to 1024x768, also changed the "detected screen resolution"-option in compiz), didn't work. Never seen anything like this before.
Hm, I just got some new errors (recompiled compiz and the 8.42.3 driver):

I'm guessing your distortion looks the same as mine (the image doesn't work). Some things just black, some things diagonal patterns of bright colours, some things kind of smeared horizontally? But the window decorations (emerald) work.
I wish I knew what was happening!
Strangely, I am also running 1440x900, and get those visual not supported claims. Hmm.
