    Actually the fix was simpler than that: setting audio hardware acceleration to full instead of emulation

    Mozilla had tracemonkey disabled in 64-bit builds on Linux for a long time even though it worked without a problem.

    Ah, that didn't have anything to do with linux AFAICT. It was 64-bit builds everywhere. Which you could say was because Linux was the only platform heavily using it.
