Why not do this for a Plymouth boot screen? Most people except proprietary driver users will be using KMS these days, so we'll never see framebuffer boot screens. When I boot up Fedora 15, I see a black screen, followed by the Fedora plymouth boot screen, followed by gdm. No framebuffer splash at all.
You gotta be shitting me
So who's to say that this version of the Kernel is safe? I mean who provided the source code, github? That was suppose to be Linus' version. Did he check that code thoroughly to ensure no backdoors are available.
Is this suppose to take emphasis off of the kernel.org linux.com hackoring?
I wouldn't do this just for the fact that it bears resembles the logo.
People who don't know (who need to know there are other things than windows) will think it's another flavor of windows.
The animated humping iceweasel logo is still my favorite.
