nForce2 in Linux?

I mostly find old information from 2003/2004 about nForce2 incompatibility i Linux, but I've also read that most of these problems have been solved in later kernels.

Is nForce2 working good in linux?
Without closed binary drivers?
Are there APIC related freezes?
And should I care if I use a signle CPU?

Yes, the nForce2 is well supported with a modern-day distribution and kernel. No closed binary drivers should be needed for the chipset. I haven't touched a nForce2 system in a year or two and it was working good back then but I don't recall if there were any APIC issues, I don't believe so but it may come down to the BIOS and motherboard.

nForce2 is Socket A for the Athlon XPs or Semprons and they only come in a single-core package.

Just switch from an AXP barton 2500 on abit nf7-s2. Everything's worked like a charm for probably the past 2 years out of the box.
