[sarcasm]who was the other pioneer that passed away?? [/sarcasm]
on a serious note this guy WAS truly a pioneer and hugely influential in the IT but he didn't have a company producing shiny devises neither a "religious cult" following him so this -sadly- will only be published in IT related media.
o tempora o mores
sure sure but the german "heise" company honor him big 1 last time :http://www.heise.de/ix/meldung/Unix-...e-1360366.html

Farewell Mr Ritchie, and thanks for all the code... /salute
... Yes, a true "Innovator",..., he was.
He was one of the greatest. His books on UNIX and C language were my Bibles for years.
Rest in peace, Mr.Ritchie, we would remember you and your deeds.
He is in one league with Einstein. Thank you for helping humanity.
Steve Jobs a pioneer... Pioneered what?
This?
Or pherhaps this?
Or do you mean this?
Puhlease....
Jobs pioneered nothing. That was all Steve Wozniak in the early days of Apple. And some random designer team in the latter ones. Jobs was just a businessman. Nothing more, nothing less.
Ritchie on the other hand was a real scientist.
