scribus does have a fairly large amount of user interface. also all the text layout stuff must be a lot code.

scribus is very handy.i use it for academic posters. its great that you can make a latex frame and paste in stuff from a paper. also the performance is good even on a netbook.

ps: i hope that they stick to a simpler version scheme. it used to be that 1.3.3.x was stable, and 1.3.4, 1.3.5 ... were development.

No, it's another sign that newswriting quality at Phoronix has gone further down. The port itself was done in 2007. All the other work was refactoring.

Just like that statement that Qt3 is still supported, which is nonsense.

Depends. If Scribus uses Qt3Support (the Qt3 compatibility layer for Qt4), then no, Qt5 will be much harder because there is no Qt3Support in Qt5.
