    While Plymouth is now quite mature and didn't see too much new activity in 2011, it may be finding its way into another Linux distribution. The openSUSE developers are debating to use Plymouth as a replacement to bootsplash...

    If you set Plymouth to a fixed resolution it just runs fine without KMS, instead of text mode. This way it works on nVidia's proprietary driver and even on SiS hardware (and other Linux-incompatible GPU's).

    From what I've seen, Plymouth has to be deactivated to get Ubuntu running on Poulsbo hardware, although that could have been fixed already.
