cant enable dri with 7.11! help

i installed 7.11 on opensuse 10.2 64 bit, and followed the exact same instructions as i did with my 10.3 install (64bit) and dri wont enable on 10.2.

here is my xorg.0.log:

i built the module by hand in /lib/modules/fglrx which worked on 10.3

It seems your kernel changed via update but the kernel module was not updated. Compile the kernel module again.

i have recompiled it, but no love. is it possible, because i have multiple kernels installed, that it is compiling and installing against the wrong kernel?

yea no love in any of my kernels. i recompiled for all of them and it still gives the same error.
I did notice however, during boot it will try to start "atieventsd" and complains that the file isnt found... is this something left over from my 8.40 install?

edit: an interesting thing has shown up... when dri is trying to be started, the log says that it is loading the 8.40 module, even though i most definitley uninstalled it before installing 7.11. thoughts????

My spidey sense tells me you need a newer version of X.

yea im actually up to date with the xorg7.3 repo in opensuse buildservice.... i resolved this tho..by installing 10.3 and going from scratch. unfortunate, but true....

somehow it was still loading parts of the 8.40 drivers i installed via rpm, with the .run installed 7.11

oh well
