I believe once Qt 5 comes out and KDE will fully support wayland, it will be time to migrate. I'm still not sure why GTK exists, all community efforts should be moving into Qt... but this is another story.

I this sprite support like 8bit Commodore 64 sprite support before blit became the preferred way to do things?
Any clue what the sprites are for in the compositor?
And since the compositor is tight to GL aren't sprites supported by default?
In GL they're used eg. for particle systems.
