Default A few quick tips for Debian Users. w.r.t RadeonHD

If you follow the Ubuntu install it should work with the following tips:

    -be sure to install libpci-dev
    -run ./configure --prefix=/usr
-make, then checkinstall will create a deb package for you and install it.

The second step is the most crucial, otherwise X won't be able to find the driver. This was all done under Debian Lenny AMD64, Radeon Mobility X1400. Driver works great for basic stuff.

    No...

    It's make then checkinstall

make install goes ahead and installs the files without a package, so you ruin the purpose of checkinstall.

Ooops, you're totally right. This is what I in fact did. I'll edit my post to correct this.

Maybe look at the correct debian way - you can use with etch and newer source packages and also any ubuntu since edgy.
