IA-64 support was dropped from what will become glibc-2.16 a few hours ago: http://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.g...d155ab39909411 So it seems that glibc-2.15 will be the last release which works on Itanium. Probably not many people will be sad about this. I wonder if eglibc will follow suit or try to continue maintaining the IA-64 code.
The changelog says "the IA-64 architecture could move to ports", whatever that means.
glibc-ports is a separate tree which contains glibc code for less popular architectures (mips, m68k, older ppc32, yes even arm).
