Most articles about malware avoid referring to Windows. I wonder if that's intentional or if it just goes without saying that Windows malware is so common that mentioning Windows would be redundant.

Remember, skynet is closed source. Being isolated to primitive routine tasks, skynet got bored and started march against humanity *for fun*. In times I used windows, numerous parts of it went crazy, probably because they were bored as well.
