Just install a recent enough kernel:
i have fx6100 on gigabye mobo
trying to find a way to see cputemp without going into bios
ubuntu 10.10 detects this
Found `ITE IT8720F Super IO Sensors' Success!
(address 0x228, driver `it87')
# sensors-detect revision 5818 (2010-01-18 17:22:07 +0100)
# System: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-970A-UD3
thank you i was afraid of that!
lmsensors is for checking temperature, not for controlling it. Controlling works via cpu-governours, be sure to enable amd driver an set default governour to ondemand or conservative. You can watch the current state with cpufreq-info.
Additionally cpu itself has overheat protection, so it wont overheat, it will start skipping cycles.
thank you i have frequency scaling enabled
i would like to have coretemp in the panel
a while back i had a temperature applet from
apple that worked but i cant find it anymore
