as i said: the directory is empty!![]()
This new driver is not even starting for me:
I don't know if it is because of the resolution (1680x1050) or I hit another bug. I'm back with the previous version.Code:(II) fglrx(0): Supported Future Video Modes: (II) fglrx(0): #0: hsize: 1680 vsize 1050 refresh: 60 vid: 179 (II) fglrx(0): #1: hsize: 1280 vsize 1024 refresh: 60 vid: 32897 (II) fglrx(0): #2: hsize: 1280 vsize 960 refresh: 60 vid: 16513 (II) fglrx(0): #3: hsize: 1152 vsize 864 refresh: 75 vid: 20337 (II) fglrx(0): Supported additional Video Mode: (II) fglrx(0): clock: 146.2 MHz Image Size: 408 x 306 mm (II) fglrx(0): h_active: 1680 h_sync: 1784 h_sync_end 1960 h_blank_end 2240 h_border: 0 (II) fglrx(0): v_active: 1050 v_sync: 1053 v_sync_end 1059 v_blanking: 1089 v_border: 0 (II) fglrx(0): Ranges: V min: 56 V max: 75 Hz, H min: 30 H max: 81 kHz, PixClock max 170 MHz (II) fglrx(0): Monitor name: SyncMaster (II) fglrx(0): Serial No: HS4P601492 (II) fglrx(0): EDID (in hex): (II) fglrx(0): 00ffffffffffff004c2d140231325044 (II) fglrx(0): 19110103802d1c782aee95a3544c9926 (II) fglrx(0): 0f5054bfef80b30081808140714f0101 (II) fglrx(0): 01010101010121399030621a274068b0 (II) fglrx(0): 360098321100001c000000fd00384b1e (II) fglrx(0): 5111000a202020202020000000fc0053 (II) fglrx(0): 796e634d61737465720a2020000000ff (II) fglrx(0): 00485334503630313439320a2020004b (II) fglrx(0): End of Display1 EDID data -------------------- (WW) fglrx(0): Only one display is connnected,so single mode is enabled (EE) fglrx(0): PreInitDAL failed

@ZedDB: thanks! yes, i use gentoo.. i'm reemerging xorg-server right now!
That's a very bold wish, regarding the driver's progress during the last months....although I do hope things will rapidly continue improving -I do need my framebuffer-![]()
I think the only chance ATI has not to lose the entire Linux market is to hand out the 2D and 3D specs yesterday. :-/
YAY it's running
xorg 1.4
9600xt agp
~x86 gentoo![]()
find -name libglx.so /
this would search all the root to find the libglx.so.
if it cannot find it, then reinstall the driver since there has been some corruption when installing it. on gentoo the ati directory is /usr/lib/opengl/ati and if something is missing there then emerge ati-drivers again.
this is independent from xorg-server since the module is one ati module.I had the same problem when i uninstalled the ati-drivers. I had to re emerge xorg-server. If you don't use Gentoo you could always try to install xorg again.
eselect opengl set atiGentoo Linux amd64, Kernel 2.6.23-gentoo-r3, xorg-server 1.3, Ati Radeon 3850
somehow it seems that the ebuild would not set the right opengl. i had the same problem, but after the reforcing of opengl to ati then it worked again.
i have this twoThat issue still isn't resolved for me. Any idea why? My ET is still dark as hell.
set into section device and gamma settings seem to work in apps that can adjust them. i don't know if this could be related. and what overlay are you currently using? give a try to the opengl overlay. maybe ET could not set it if it's on Xv overlay.Option "GammaCorrectionI" "0x06419064"
Option "GammaCorrectionII" "0x06419064"
it's useless to reemerge xorg-server. i can assure you that the driver works fine on gentoo. i've installed and run it. you just have to remember to do an etc-update or dispatch-config after emerging it and an eselect opengl set ati and it should work. also you should do a ls -Rl on the /usr/lib/opengl/ati/ there you should see the various files needed for fglrx to run. you may also do a revdep-rebuilt just in case you have some broken linkage on your system, but reemerging xorg-server is useless.@ZedDB: thanks! yes, i use gentoo.. i'm reemerging xorg-server right now!
i reemerged xorg-server , and then all those xf86-drivers and of course the ati-drivers and everything works now!!
EDIT: is it possible tu run compiz with xorg 1.4 ??
