So the changes to the kernel are GPL but the module is CDDL? What does that mean, there are GPL hooks in the kernel to a CDDL module? That sounds quite useless, see the ZFS debacle.

Yeah, that's Oracle's way of trying to look open while screwing its open-source competition. Common technique.

And it's not sure that the main Linux kernel maintainers will accept those changes if they are only used by an out-of-tree module.
