Default Dynamic Display and higher resolutions

I'm having some issues with the dynamic display management implemented in the later fglrx drivers. I'm connecting my laptop to a LCD TV through a VGA cable and the TV is capable of a 1366x768 resolution.

Now, the problem is that when I plug in this display and use dynamic display to enable it: aticonfig --enable-monitor=crt1, which works, I'm not able to get a resolution higher than what my laptop's LVDS supports, so I'm stuck with 1024x768. XRandr only shows this resolution and lower ones when I run it.

I moved over the the new code-base when it came out, but xrandr 1.2 and the free drivers where able to get this to work perfectly. (However with a resolution of 1360x768, don't know why but it worked :P).

So, is there any way I can get this to work with the right resolutions?

    I'm using a ATI Mobility Radeon x700.

can you please provide a copy of your xorg.conf file? and also, please try reading the gentoo wiki page about widescreen resolutions.

Sorry for the delayed response, but here's my xorg.conf.

The main point here though, is that I don't want to edit my xorg.conf and restart X whenever I change monitors, if possible.
