Improving Linux DRM For Embedded Systems
Phoronix: Improving Linux DRM For Embedded Systems
A set of Direct Rendering Manager patches have appeared to ease the development of targeting DRM drivers for embedded systems. There's also two new DRM drivers using this SDRM layer...
It makes me cringe when I see still so few embedded GPU vendors giving real support. Especially since on embedded devices Linux is #1. And then little enterprises or freelancers have to jump in and do something about it.
I guess it is a mix of lazyness, fear of their (or others') I.P./violated patents seeping out, planned obsolescence that won't work so well with a free driver and maybe lack of knowledge how to do Linux things?
