    Phoronix: Ubuntu 12.10 Prepares To Improve Linux Performance

    While there's still over three months to go until Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" will be officially released, for many computers this release will be faster than its predecessor, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

    That's hard to say. Has he published Fedora benchmarks recently?
    Moreover, it's not clear if intel ddx is using sna or not.

    I believe most of these improvements are due to the constantly improved graphics stack. But how much does a relatively high end system (with discrete Nvidia graphics) benefit when it comes to gaming?

    Default consider as ever PreRelease > UbuntuRelease

    If you want a rock stable and easy Ubuntu release, there is a thousands
    #if specialCaseAttention then ... else ...
    which will cost performance all over the place. I cannot remember any Ubuntu release which wasn't slower than the pre-relase six weeks before.

    Additionaly there are many badly programed hotfixes of some few hours before release. This in contrary to Debian is due to timely releases ...
