At first it looked a bit sensationalist to me, that's probably not how the post is meant.
Every lost is a big lost.

This is not the first time a Linux developer lost a life while bicycling.
Remember; when bicycling, always wear a protective helmet!
No!!!!This is really sad and unfortunate news for the whole community.
We can never replace the contribution this person made to us -- his unique knowledge and abilities and efforts. But I hope that his life work will live on in the people who use his driver.
The title of the article almost implies the loss of development is the main sadness here...
