Phoronix: Valve Picks Up Another All-Star Linux Developer
With Valve Software's ambitious plans for Linux, they have just picked up another Linux development all-star. Their latest hire has been working on Linux games for more than a decade, is a former Loki Software developer, and he's the creator of SDL.

ex-Microsoft guys working on a linux game port...I can't see any way how this could go wrong...
Wondering what happens to SDL, have been waiting for 1.3(2.0) release for can't remember how long. Maybe it is time to switch to another lib...
Let's hope that they'll stick to Reverse Valve Time this time.
SDL isn't going anywhere. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they use SDL as a backend to the Source engine as their means of providing a porting layer to Linux. And if they make SDL really good then they can just push ALL rendering/input/sound through SDL for the Source engine on all platforms.
Sam posted yesterday that they want to release SDL 2.0 soon.

Looks like they're cleaning up any show stopping bugs now and an official release should be forthcoming!
