Well, if this is the new 'official driver' than a new nvidia-beta should be available soon too. I think i will wait until then to upgrade, being as 304.32 already contains many of these fixes, including the 'easy root access' security flaw, blue tint, etc.
304.32 has been pretty decen't hopefully the next beta will have some improvements as well.
i'm glad you pointed out the VDPAU issue in KDE. I wasn't aware of it but had been recently considering checking out kde 4.9 - but I think i may wait until i have heard that VDPAU works fine with KWin/KDE desktop effects.
I use Gnome3/Compiz-bzr, which doesn't have any real problems with VDPAU as far as i can tell (using h/w acceleration for videos and also using XBMC on my desktop). Hopefully, they will fix the issue sooner than later, as i would like to try out the latest KDE at some point. (but not at the price of having to disable VDPAU or desktop effects).
I don't suppose anyone knows if this includes the new-fangled fixes from the Valve visit?
But I want;
- Wayland support
- Optimus (discreet/integrated GPU switching) support
- Open source
- Hardware documentation
- Free graphics card to Nouvou developers
