Unity3D is the number one mobile game development engine, and could result in thousands of games being ported to Linux.

Each one of those games is powered by Unity3D's core: Mono.

Time to decide what matters more, kids: loving more Linux games, or hating Mono and saying it's useless!

I read the unity thread from page 1 to 7, looks like several users are not happy with the upgrade price, not happy that there are not enough improvements to the GUI system, some expected that there would be a performance boost fix for version 3.5.x, also there is not proper support of 64bit architectures, and not good multicore support...
Apart from some linux friendly unity users, most unity users seem to be rather disappointed in this thread.

the upgrade price from 3.5 pro version to unity 4 costs $850. So I would think that maybe some more popular unity games might be ported, but probably not really many.

the user reviews devmaster.net are pretty mixed on Unity3D.

Lesson to take away from this: don't spam engine with polls from users, spam games with polls from users (and fund them!) because games demanding platform support in this case was more effective.

Exactly, having an engine is only one half of the game (pun intended). We have game engines for years (id1/2/3/4, Unreal 1/2/3, Unigine) and more coming, like Unity or C4, but we haven't seen some really good games with that (read: AAA).
