I think ARM is finally going to rock with ARMv8/AArch64. They finally standarized the boot process and settled on Flattened Device Tree, obsoleting the need for a specialized kernel binary for every ARM board. A single operating system instance can finally adress more than 4 GB of RAM. It is still backwards-compatbile with AArch32. They even ported Xen.
AArch32 had too many limitations for larger environments, but AArch64 looks pretty good.
