Last May Intel had introduced PowerTOP as an open-source utility for monitoring a system's power consumption and making recommendations on how to reduce the power consumption thereby extending the battery life for mobile devices. Today, however, Intel has announced a new sibling for PowerTOP: LatencyTOP...
The only issue I would see with this nifty application is that it requires patches above and beyond the app. Nice, but until someone accepts the mods into the kernel or adjusts the Oprofile mods accordingly, I can't see it getting too much mainstream use unlike PowerTOP.
