Phoronix: NVIDIA 304.64 Driver Fixes Performance, New GPUs
The NVIDIA 304.64 Linux graphics driver was released today with support for new graphics cards, address performance issues related to recent Linux kernels, and provide other fixes for those relying upon this closed-source driver...

I'd like to see some benchmark; in particular the performance gain compared to the 310.x beta drivers.
DeiF: thanks for the links!
That you didn't read the steam part in the annoucement.
Heres a lil part:
NVIDIA today announced the latest NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ drivers -- R310 -- double the performance(1) and dramatically reduce game loading times for those gaming on the Linux operating system.
The result of almost a year of development by NVIDIA, Valve and other game developers, the new GeForce R310 drivers are designed to give GeForce customers the best possible Linux-based PC gaming experience -- and showcase the enormous potential of the world's biggest open-source operating system.
Available for download at www.geforce.com, the new R310 drivers were also thoroughly tested with Steam for Linux, the extension of Valve's phenomenally popular Steam gaming platform that officially opened to gamers starting today.

Slower than the 304.60's in max setting Unigine Heaven runs, by 0.1fps
I guess the "double performance" only works on Steam...
Sure nVidia states their latest 3xx.xx drivers for Linux as stable. The Gentoo community states those drives as unstable. The highest version that the Gentoo community states for nVidia drives is 295.75 and that is for the 64-bit setup. For overall, version 295.71 is highest version that is most stable. I use Gentoo community to figure out if I should use the latest because it gives me an ideal what program or driver version is stable.
If there are features that you want or there are bug fixes, you may upgrade. Be careful upgrading.
Ehh double performance quote was from R310 beta driver not between R304 drivers... But of course you are right about that ste.. err source engine games performance increasing.
(1) Comparing 304.51 driver performance of 142.7 fps versus 310.14 driver performance of 301.4 fps in beta build of Left for Dead 2. All tests run on the same system using Intel Core i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz with 8 GB memory, GeForce GTX 680 and Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit.
