There is something most open source game devs don't seem to get. Since they are programmers they like to spend time writing engines and adding graphical features. That is great. But they forget that they are making a game not a tech demo. A lot of game creation means writing the actual game, balancing weapons maps everything, making it fun and most of all: creating great assets for your game! Stop focusing so much on adding SSAO and global illumination and god knows what else and focus on having cool maps and objects.
Typical un-news article about irrelevant product X not hitting milestone Y, but making it sound like it matters.
With a little luck this game will see release just about the time it's graphics begins to look horribly dated.
This is Tremulous with few updates, hardly new at all.
