I personal think more in a way, that I have to jailbreak my kindle to access the OS behind it...

This UEFI secure boot sounds to me like, I have to jailbreak the BIOS/Motherboard to use it with a different OS.

I have "tech analphabets" friends and relatives that use linux with satisfaction and appreciating it's use experience, but scared by everything that is "low level" because they're afraid to break something...

They (at least 4) managed to install Ubuntu themselves, the only difficulty was to understand how does the boot process and the bios more or less work (for example how to change boot order and similar things), this will add another complication imho (i really hope not).

"Ape" is not a species, it's the superfamily Hominoidea.

    Microsoft even deprecated Silverlight.

Really fucked up that we need the permission of Microsoft to run our system.

SecureBoot is so flawed in everything from its design to implementation.
