It truly is official now, more than two years later, Michael.
As you would say, "Prost!"
Phoronix: The Steam Linux Client Is Now Available To Everyone
Valve has announced that their Steam Linux client is now available to all Linux gamers. It's open beta period now and just in time for the holidays...
This is epic! Thanks Gabe! Thanks Michael!
Too bad I sold 260 GTX and won't be getting any 69xx till new year... :/
Want to see it perform on MESA
Downloading a few of the previous Humble Indie Bundle games to my laptop... I'll get TF2 installed on the desktop (where I've got more free disk space) later.
It'll be awesome when the rest of the Orange Box comes around (aside from Team Fortress 2), but what I'm really excited for is seeing more new titles coming out with Linux support near release, if not on day one.
I think that is what will impress people the most.
No real change :P
I still can't log in - it shows "This version of Steam is currently in closed beta."
Do I need a new version of Steam client?
from the command line.Code:steam steam://open/games
(or download the new client ?)
Well you have to update the client, you can force it using the Steam menu and check for updates - next time the nag screen should be gone.
