"Per-Output Workspaces" YEESSS!!!!!!!!
if they release wayland more often it might help with porn addiction for many people.
So what is per-output workspaces?
As is with Xorg when you switch work space it switches the work space for each monitor. That can be realy anoying if you are wanting somthing like email on one screen always and just want to switch workspace on the othere screen. With Wayland it would not be posible to just switch the one screen that you want to change workspace for.
Great!
Can't wait until 14.10 when Ubuntu should use Wayland as default (my opinion), Compiz drives me crazy.
Hm, I'm not sure how exactly per output workspaces would work..
I mean, imagine dragging a window so that it's halves are on both outputs,
then switch workspaces on the first/second output. Which output workspace
does the window belong to??
Also, while I guess this could be very helpful to some people, I personally really like
having one big virtual screen where all monitors share workspaces. When I set up
each workspace for a specific task/program, I use all monitors for maximum efficiency,
and so I really appreciate the ability to quickly switch between tasks, even with two monitors.
But to each their own I guess.
