Welcome to 2013. You can write native applications that can target every desktop OS, every mobile device, and they are native, the interface is written like javascript, and it's name is qt. I'm hoping there is a boom in C++ from this (mainly because I'm most experienced in C++, and a lot of the features of C++11 {smart pointers, lambdas, atomics} make it a lot more productive than Java / C# for me)

TRANSLATION: Hi this is your master Digia. Surrender all your hippie-licensed code so we can "diversify" to other markets. Because we really dont care about software freedom or believe in Linux.

Right...... Less platforms is more freedom.

Less focus on software freedom ... is less software freedom. Considering software freedom is a restrictive license it is consistent logic.

Now it will be (at least at experimental level) on iOS, Android, BB10, Sailfish, Ubuntu phones... but not WP, so not for Nokia. Quite ironic.

They brought a GPL toolkit to iOS users. This expands the freedom of iOS users and iOS developers.

The alternative is to not have any GPL toolkit on iOS, which obviously means less freedom.

Don't argue with the trolls. It just encourages them.

But it's LGPL, obviously missing the important fact you can use it in proprietary software even though you have to release changes, so his entire argument is invalid, Digia is evil, and Gnome is the only real anything ever. Or something. Can we start hating on Enlightenment because it exists? How dare they write software they want in their free time?
