The wiki sounds a bit more optimistic. The last status update speaks about a firefox running on KMS Xorg.Work has begun on Radeon KMS support for FreeBSD. [...] The work is being done for FreeBSD 10 but there's a long way to go.
So when the BSD guys have KMS working for FreeBSD 10, Wayland should work, too.... And maybe GnomeShell is ported to Wayland 'till then... I hope this Wayland port won't be Linux only, as Weston is (AFAIR).
