The full DVD install of opensuse let's you choose gnome or kde in the install. The cd sized installers come in a KDE and Gnome images as seen here:

Yeah, but KDE is the default. It just let's you optionally choose Gnome instead if you want to. Which i guess Michael did?

openSUSE 12.3 GNOME Edition has been launched today by the openSUSE Project, alongside all the other flavors, KDE, XFCE, and E17.

Both kde and gnome can be used as life cd too.

So maybe michael should say he tested openSUSE Gnome Edition, instead of openSUSE. Because clearly there is a difference.
