The modified (and open source) libxvmc in the openChrome Project have supported offloading of MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP (MPEG-4 part 2) and MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 (MPEG-4 part 10) video on VIA Unichrome graphics hardware for a few years now. ...I still have my hopes high for VA API to fully replace XvMC though, but more GPU manufactures needs to jump on the VAAPI project for that to happen.
