Hmm, imagine if there was the opposite approach, where instead of creating smells, it senses smells and defines what they are. So you go out to dinner and you're like "what is this wonderful taste!?" so you stick Google Nose/Tongue into your dish and tells you the ingredients. It'll be a funny day if that ever gets released, where people start pulling their phones out at dinner and sticking it in their food, hearing it say "pasta, garlic, butter, ..."
