You would need Debian Etch for that driver - it will never give you 3d with Sid.
Hey guys, I'm getting a X Server: unable to detect error while installing 8.28.8 (AFAIK last drivers supporting 9250) on a debian unstable pc with vanilla 2.6.23 kernel.
any clue on how to solve this?osmosis:~# ./ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run

so there is no way I can install the drivers from ati on my debian box?
I keep getting this error and I seriously believe it's caused by the ati graphic card:

You need an old X server to use 3d. So do a PURE etch install and then you can use it.
