Phoronix: GNOME Display Settings Now Working On Wayland
In addition to the Hawaii Weston Shell update and better touch input support on Weston, there's some more good news for Wayland: the GNOME Display Settings is now working on Wayland via a new Dbus interface...
With Red Hat these days maintaining large parts of Gnome as well as KScreen (KDE display configuration, http://ltinkl.blogspot.com/ ), I hope the designed XRandR-based protocol becomes a cross desktop standard in the Wayland world (and possibly even Ubuntu if Canonical used the same protocol).
Who cares anyway? Toying around with Gnome on Wayland is so much more fun than discussing with the "Gnome is DOOMed camp". Have fun in the world of X and window manager lock down.
This new DBus interface for GNOME display configuration is modeled around the X.Org RandR extension but in a simplified form.
It would be cool if once in a while, people agreed to a damn standard, and would not make endless variations around it that causes so much code duplication between different projects...
